Getting started
Install Porotimer and run your first focus session.
Porotimer splits your work into focus sprints separated by real breaks. This page takes you from installing the app to finishing your first session.
Install
Porotimer is an iPhone app. Install it from the App Store:
After the first session you can add home screen widgets — a Quick Home widget that starts and tracks a session without opening the app, plus weekly and monthly stats. See iOS v1.0.9.
Porotimer also runs in the browser, with keyboard shortcuts and task search that the iOS app does not have.
Your first session
Sign in
Porotimer needs an account, and it is free. Pick whichever you prefer: Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email magic code — enter your address and Porotimer sends a short code to paste back, so there is no password to choose or remember.
Name the task
Type what you are about to work on. Porotimer suggests tasks as you type, drawn from your previous entries, so a task you run often takes a few keystrokes.
Start the timer
Start a 25-minute sprint and work until it rings. If a sprint is running long or short, add or remove five minutes without losing the session.
Take the break
When the sprint ends Porotimer notifies you and moves you into a break — five minutes after a normal sprint, twenty after a longer stretch. Breaks have their own screen with calming music rather than dropping you back at the timer.
Repeat, and check the count
Your completed sprints for today sit at the top of the timer. Keep going until the day's work is done.
